Breaking the Block

Last spring and into the summer-during the height of the pandemic- I had readers block. Nothing interested me or held my attention. Please understand this is not a comment on the quality of what I was trying to read. The stuff was good but my head was NOT there.

Headspace by J.D. Edwin was the book that broke my readers block. I had hesitantly agreed to beta read the manuscript because I was afraid that I might not be able to give meaningful feedback. Well, I should not have worried. I started the book and all of the sudden it was 3 a.m. and I was on the last page. I hadn’t bothered with dinner and hadn’t even noticed! This book pulled me in and kept me turning the pages.

Fast-forward a year and Headspace is being published!

It comes out on July 13. I was fortunate enough to score an Advanced Reader Copy and again found myself forgetting dinner. Headspace reminded me what I love about reading-compelling characters, fast-paced action, and at least one plot twist that I didn’t see coming. If you only read one book this summer, make it Headspace!
